My Culinary Story

As a child, some of my favorite memories are of family gatherings around a fantastic meal prepared by my Grandma, some of which I helped her create. She was the primary influence on my culinary career, igniting my passion for food. I LOVE to see people smile and my cooking has always done that.

My grandma made the best Sloppy Joes and it has become a signature dish of mine. As well as her Chicken and Dumplings Recipe! Every positive memory I have as a child tended to have food involved.

I believe in spiritual growth and as I go forward in my culinary career, I want to combine that with food. What we put in our bodies affects our mind and soul. I will have my 5 year food permits by October 2017 and then will begin to pursue my Horticulture Degree learning how to grow my own spices and vegetables. So that I can create food that is not modified and is grown with love and a passion. So what enters us is food that has been nurtured.

My very first 3 layer cake ! I am so excited to be in the Kitchen.

The Community Kitchen is so amazing. I learned about them while I was incarcerated. They came to the jail to help people who wanted to change their lives. I talked to my case manager Amanda Ludwig about the program and she emailed Erin Swedish before I was released and had me set-up to be able to go to Culinary School right away.

I am so thankful for the oppurtunities that I have been given.  It takes a lot of hard work and dedication but I am dedicated to having a better life.
